yayınlandıSo when we are talking about HIV, impact on the individual, impact on the society, impact on the life of the individual, impact on the social circle of the individual. There are various aspects of doing an HIV test and deciding or interpreting a positive HIV or negative HIV and how much of this is true to eh life cycle of the virus, which has come inside the body because of various other reasons. So when we say that 3 months of testing for HIV is not conclusive, what we say that is the incubation period of the HIV virus, it can vary from 1 month to 10 years. We have patients who have got HIV positive after 3 years, 5 years from the day they have subjected themselves to a blood transfusion or a contaminated injection or a sexual intercourse. So this virus behave very differently from other viruses. It is not easy as well as not difficult to test this virus, but the conclusion of his, or the positivity cannot be dated back to say in months or years, say easily. So it becomes an issue or a social stigma to answer these questions. There are laws now where we take permission and informed consent to do HIV. So when we do these tests, we inform the pros and cons and how we interpret the positive tests and negative tests. So it will not be wise enough to say that a positive HIV can be dated back to 3 months or 3 years. At the same time, the virus can undergo seroconversion. So what is the status of his individual when this HIV is done, it is very difficult to interpret. But the inference is the dssame, whetherit is positive or negative and we also try to counsel the patient, which is a very important part of this HIV testing and HIV interpretation. It is not complete without the counseling. So the patient may come back with a question that they had a safe sexual intercourse, or they were hospitalized in some xyz hospital or had a blood transfusion. But in order to label it or tag it to the HIV positivity tor negativity, it is not so easy. It is not conclusive.
